Today CSTO Countries Celebrate May 1

In the CSTO Member States, May 1 is truly a people's holiday. It brings different generations together through shared universal values: peace, friendship and the pursuit of prosperity for their countries.

In Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia this day is officially called Labour Day. In Kazakhstan, May 1 has become the Day of Unity of the people of Kazakhstan, symbolizing solidarity and interethnic harmony. In Russia and Tajikistan, May 1 is celebrated as Spring and Labour Day.

Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in his congratulatory speech pointed out that on this day, "our productive labour, civil solidarity and military valor" are particularly strong.

"Dear friends, let's keep up the good old traditions: celebrate May 1 among family and friends, and plant a tree as a symbol of creation and a living example for posterity," Vyacheslav Volodin concluded.
