On 6 November 1994, the Constitution of Tajikistan was adopted at a national referendum. Since 1998, the day of its adoption has been widely celebrated throughout the country.
The basic law of the country was amended three times: in 1999, 2003 and 2016.
In his congratulatory message on the occasion of Constitution Day, Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, noted that the adoption of the “momentous document” opened a new historical stage in the recent development of Tajikistan and led to fundamental changes in the political life of society.
“It is thanks to the Constitution that the foundations of the state, the country’s legal system, the rule of law, and law and order have been strengthened, and our state has firmly embarked on the path of sustainable development,” the President emphasized.
According to the Dushanbe city administration, the festive programme will include artistic performances, demonstrations of folk crafts and other events dedicated to the Constitution of the Republic.
