Akylbek Japarov: There is a risk that criminals involved in the events in Kazakhstan could move to other CSTO states
“Instability and increased violence are more likely to lead to a deterioration of the socioeconomic situation in Kazakhstan itself and have a negative impact on all of us,” Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, said in his speech at an extraordinary meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s Collective Security Council. “We believe it is especially important to ensure all conditions for the unhindered movement of passengers and freight for the socioeconomic development and maintenance of stability in the region. It is important to maintain the sustainable economic development of the region and to take the necessary measures to maintain favourable conditions for entrepreneurs, businesses and inter-bank relations,” emphasized the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Akylbek Japarov recalled that on January 7 the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan convened an extraordinary session, and a majority of deputies approved the decision to send a peacekeeping contingent to Kazakhstan. The same day, January 7, a military peacekeeping contingent of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic consisting of 150 experienced officers and contract servicemen, as well as eight armoured fighting vehicles and 12 automotive vehicles were sent to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to Akylbek Japarov, there is information that more firearms have fallen into the hands of criminals. There is a risk that criminal elements involved in looting and mayhem will move across our state borders.
Akylbek Japarov called on the CSTO States to make joint efforts to restore stability in Kazakhstan and to prevent attacks on the country’s military, administrative and social facilities.
“As support measures, we decided to allow citizens of all countries, including citizens of Kazakhstan, to cross the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border into Kyrgyzstan without presenting negative PCR test results,” said Akylbek Japarov.
He also said that the Kyrgyz side has organized temporary accommodation for Kazakh citizens returning from Turkey, the Arab Emirates and other countries who were forced to arrive at Manas International Airport.
“It is also comforting to note that many Kyrgyz citizens are proactive and sympathetic to the situation and are providing all kinds of voluntary help. The entire Kyrgyz people deeply empathizes with our Kazakh brothers in these difficult days and sincerely wishes a speedy resolution of the situation for the good of the people,” said Akylbek Japarov.
