Aleksei Sandykov: Participation in international observation is an essential component of parliamentary diplomacy
Aleksei Sandykov, coordinator of international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, described the participation of parliamentarians from the CSTO Member States in international observation of elections in the Organization’s Member States as an essential component of parliamentary diplomacy. He said this during meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek on November 27, 2021. Aleksei Sandykov recalled, “We must remember: the main thing in our work is to ‘do no harm’. CSTO PA observers act based on the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, non-interference in the election process and compliance with the election laws of the Kyrgyz Republic.”
Noting that he heads the group on friendship with the Kyrgyz Republic at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Aleksei Sandykov said that in “pre-coronavirus times” delegations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia have repeatedly visited the Jogorku Kenesh and stressed that he sees the Kyrgyz people as a brotherly nation. “We have always leaned on each other in difficult times.”
