Alisher Erbayev: The Reinstatement of Single-Seat Constituencies Has Increased the Interest to the Election
✔️ The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly's team of international observers continues to visit polling stations on election day.
“The work at the polling stations that we visited was well organized. Our team of observers did not detect any interference,” said Alisher Erbayev, a member of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Ecology and Regional Development.
▪️The international observer explained high level voter turnout with the reinstatement of single-seat constituencies. One of the most significant changes in 2023 was the return to a mixed system of elections to the Mazhilis and maslikhats.
“I think that the turnout will be about 50%, because it is ensured not by the party, but by single-seat constituencies,” said Alisher Erbayev.
📎 As you may recall, after almost twenty years Kazakhstanis got back the opportunity to elect MPs by voting both for party lists and self-nominated candidates.
