Mikayel Tumasyan: No Irregularities at Polling Stations So Far
March 19 is Election Day in Kazakhstan, a day of early elections to the Mazhilis of Kazakh Parliament and to maslikhats of all levels.
A group of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly is monitoring the elections. A total of 793 international observers, registered by the CEC, are working in the Mazhilis and maslikhat elections.
Nurlan Abdirov, Chairman of the CEC, said the participation of a large number of international observers in the elections “ensures openness and transparency of the campaign” as well as compliance with international obligations on the part of the state.
“I think there are so many observers because the elections are extraordinary. This is a very important event for the people of Kazakhstan,” said Mikayel Tumasyan, a member of the Standing Commission on Regional Affairs and Eurasian Integration of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
The international observer also said that there were no irregularities at any of the polling stations visited by the mission of the Parliamentary Assembly.
As you may recall, on the voting day at each polling station in any given constituency one observer from each political party, other public association or non-profit organization is entitled to be present at the same time.
