Astana and Dushanbe Deepen Strategic Ties

Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, has arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.

Following the visit, Astana and Dushanbe will sign a package of documents aimed at deepening partnerships and strategic relations.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, stressed the importance of interaction between the two states within the CSTO and other structures.

“We interact within the framework of a number of international structures and ensure stable development and security in Central Asia,” Mr Tokayev said.

In addition, in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, the Declaration on Allied Cooperation will be signed.

As you may recall, the CSTO was founded on May 15, 1992, when the heads of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan signed the Collective Security Treaty in Tashkent. In 1993, the Republic of Belarus joined the CSTO.
