Forward Air Controllers to Be Trained at a Russian Military Base in Armenia

According to the website of the Russian Defence Ministry, the military base of the Southern Military District (SMD) in Armenia will host training exercises of forward air controllers as part of the preparation for the summer training period.

The training events will be held at the high-altitude Alagyaz training ground. For a whole month, forward air controllers will perform qualifying exercises involving controlling Mikoyan MiG-29 fighters and Mil Mi-8MTV-5 and Kamov Ka-52 helicopters of the motor and artillery units to destroy manpower and armoured vehicles of a simulated enemy.

The training will focus on mastering the forward air control skills in reconnaissance-strike and reconnaissance-fire complexes.
