A coordination meeting of heads of parliamentary delegations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) Member States to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) was held remotely on June 24 and was chaired by Vatanzoda Mahmadali Mahmadullo, first deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, head of Tajikistan’s parliamentary delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Participants of the coordination meeting discussed proposals to promote parliamentary dialogue in the format of cooperation between the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on issues of mutual interest, Vatanzoda Mahmadali Mahmadullo said.
Pyotr Tolstoy, deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and head of the Parliamentary Delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the OSCE PA, offered the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO States to support the initiative on behalf of the CSTO parliamentary delegations to include issues related to countering revival of Nazism and protection of historical truth in the modern world into the 2022 OSCE PA agenda.
Umakhan Umakhanov, deputy Chairman of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues and deputy Chairman of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, spoke about the interaction between the CSTO PA delegations and representatives of OSCE monitoring groups during international observation of election processes in the Organization’s Member States.
Vasily Piskarev, a member of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, Chairman of the Commission on Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia’s Internal Affairs of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control, reported on the performance of the Commission on Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia’s Internal Affairs of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
Participants of the Coordination Meeting studied the factors and trends of the Eurasian Arc of Instability and their influence on the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility. Vladimir Kolotov and Igor Kefeli, members of the Expert Advisory Board under the CSTO PA Council, made presentations.
