A representative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization took part in the events of the XIV International Legal Olympiad “Youth for Peace,” which began today in Minsk (Republic of Belarus), at MITSO International University.

In his welcome address to the participants of the International Legal Olympiad, Sergei POSPELOV, Executive Secretary of the CSTO PA, said: “Today, when many states are looking for ways out of armed conflicts, economic and social deadlocks, perhaps it is your creative potential and unbridled energy that will become the lever which humanity will use to successfully solve the accumulated problems through peaceful intercultural dialogue!”
Belarusian and foreign expert practitioners act as referees at the Olympiad.
According to Aleksandr LEPEKHIN, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Research of MITSO International University, member of the Expert and Advisory Council at the CSTO PA Council, “Discussion participants have a very busy agenda ahead of them. They are to discuss a quasi-real task of applying the norms of international law to resolve an international conflict. In this way students can demonstrate their knowledge of public international law, international humanitarian law and human rights.”
The guests of the Olympiad, which had been organized with the active support of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the International Red Cross in the Republic of Belarus, were the heads and representatives of ministries and agencies of the Republic of Belarus, diplomatic missions, the International Red Cross Mission in the Republic of Belarus, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Executive Committee and the UN Office.
