Russian Servicemen Practiced Extreme Tank Driving in Tajikistan
Russian servicemen of the tank unit of the 201st military base in Tajikistan have successfully passed extreme tank driving tests on T-72B3M tanks in difficult mountainous conditions as part of the control test for the 2024 summer training period.
The drivers performed tests on mountainous tank ranges, demonstrating their skills of driving combat vehicles off-road and overcoming various obstacles such as rubble, ravines, steep ascents and descents, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported. The crews also practiced evacuation of simulated damaged vehicles from inaccessible places, using various towing methods.
Tank driving exercises are held at the Lyaur mountain training ground both day and night. More than 70 servicemen and five units of military and special equipment are involved in the combat training activities.
As you may recall, the 201st military base in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside its borders, located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defence, NBC protection and communications units.
