9 September is Tajikistan's 35th Anniversary of Independence

On 9 September, the Republic of Tajikistan celebrates a significant historical date – the 35th anniversary of its independence.

This day is the country's main national holiday, marking the beginning of its modern sovereign development.

Over the past 35 years, Tajikistan has made significant progress in state-building. The Republic has steadily strengthened its domestic political stability while expanding its presence on the international stage.

Within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Republic of Tajikistan is a strategic partner and a reliable ally.

On the front lines of the CSTO's area of responsibility in Central Asia, the country plays a key role in regional stability and contributes significantly to countering modern challenges such as terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking.

Members of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan play an key role in this work. Their active involvement in the work of the CSTO PA helps harmonize the national legislation of the Organization's Member States and steadily strengthens the legal foundations of the Eurasian collective security system.

This year's anniversary is especially significant given the upcoming changes in the Organization's leadership. As you may recall, the Russian Federation’s term as chairing country of the CSTO will end in 2026. In 2027, the mantle will pass to the Republic of Tajikistan.
