A round table on the topic "The principle of sovereign equality of states: the basis of equal and inclusive political dialog" took place at the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) as part of the 21st International Congress "Blishchenko's Readings".
Boris Ebzeyev, a member of the CEC of Russia, gave a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the principle of sovereign equality of states in the current geopolitical conditions.
CEC member Igor Borisov spoke about ensuring electoral sovereignty in the electoral system of the Russian Federation, underlining Russia's key role as one of the centres of global development and guarantor of multipolar world order.
Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, stressed the importance of preventing foreign interference in the internal affairs of the Organization's Member States. He pointed out that on December 5, 2022, the Assembly adopted Recommendations on Improving Legislation to Ensure Protection of Electoral Processes and Sovereignty in the CSTO Member States.
"In addition, international observation groups from the Parliamentary Assembly regularly monitor the legitimacy of elections held in the Member States and observer states," Sergei Pospelov noted.
The participants of the round table adopted a resolution, expressing support for the efforts to build a multipolar international system and called on the international community to actively work towards a just world order. They also emphasized the need to establish the principle of non-interference in national electoral processes in international law.
