Emomali Rahmon: Security Requires More Effective Approaches

On 1 September, Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, delivered a speech at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Tajik leader highlighted the escalation of global geopolitical tensions and regional conflicts, along with growing threats such as terrorism, extremism, and radicalism, emphasizing that ensuring security under such conditions requires more effective approaches.

"In these circumstances, a practical step would be the swift launch of the Anti-Drug Centre and the Multi-Purpose Centre for combating challenges and threats," Emomali Rahmon said.

The President of the Republic once again stressed the need to resolve all regional and international conflicts, including those in the Middle East and surrounding the Islamic Republic of Iran, through political and diplomatic means.

Reiterating Tajikistan’s firm commitment to further advancing the global agenda for peace and stability, Emomali Rahmon thanked the heads of partner states for their support for Tajikistan’s initiative to proclaim the Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations.

As you may recall, in 2027 the chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will pass from Russia to Tajikistan. By the end of this year, the priorities for the country’s future chairmanship of the CSTO will be outlined.
