Yerlan Koshanov Thanked CSTO Parliamentarians for Their Work at the Referendum in Astana
On March 13 in Astana, the group of CSTO PA international observers met with Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The focus of discussion was the upcoming national referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution, which will take place this Sunday, March 15.
Chairman of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov welcomed the international observers and stressed the importance of the CSTO parliamentarians’ work during the referendum.
"The Constitution we adopted 30 years ago has fully served its purpose. Today, our society faces entirely different challenges. The new Constitution must ensure the country’s development under new conditions and serve as the foundation for building a just Kazakhstan," he pointed out.
In turn, Ulukbek Uzakbaev, coordinator of the CSTO PA observer group, expressed gratitude to the Kazakhstani side for its all-round assistance in the mission’s work.
In addition to the electoral agenda, the parties discussed further strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation within the CSTO PA, stressing its importance for maintaining stability and advancing integration processes in the CSTO area of responsibility.
Yerlan Koshanov noted that in 2026 the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will celebrate its 20th anniversary and confirmed his participation in the upcoming CSTO PA meeting, scheduled for April 20 in Moscow.
