On October 26–27, 2023, Minsk is hosting a high-level international conference Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World, attended by heads of diplomatic missions of 34 countries, as well as representatives of 7 international organizations: the UN, CSTO, SCO, CIS, EAEU, ICRC, as well as the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
In his greeting to the participants and guests of the conference, Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus, said that the task of preventing armed conflicts should be solved by people of goodwill in all countries.
The Belarusian head of state emphasized that guarantees of calm and sustainable development “are created by our efforts to maintain peace, resolve emerging differences through diplomatic means, reduce the level of confrontation, hostility and hatred.”
Among the participants of the conference are Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General; Sergei Aleinik, Belarusian Foreign Minister; Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister; Kairat Sarybay, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measure in Asia; Peter Szijjarto, Hungarian Foreign Minister; Grigory Logvinov, SCO deputy Secretary General; Dmitry Mezentsev, State Secretary of the Union State; Leonid Anfimov, CIS first deputy Secretary General; Viktor Nazarenko, EEC board member.
Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, will speak at the thematic session Global and Regional Geopolitical Prerequisites for Eurasian Security.
The conference participants will discuss global and regional geopolitical prerequisites for Eurasian security, as well as interaction between international regional organizations in the Eurasian space.
As you may recall, the proposal to hold such a conference was voiced by Aleksandr Lukashenko in November 2022 at a CSTO summit in Yerevan. Belarus currently chairs the Organization under the motto Through Solidarity and Cooperation to Peace and Security.
