Beginning next year, in 2023, Imangali Tasmagambetov, representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will perform the duties of the CSTO Secretary General, said Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, at the Organization’s summit in Yerevan. This is reported by Radio Sputnik.
Imangali Tasmagambetov has served as deputy Prime Minister since September 2016, and from February 2017 to December 2019, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation.
Throughout the years, he has served as prime minister, minister of defence, akim (mayor) of Almaty and Astana and head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Radio Sputnik reported that the CSTO Collective Security Council discussed the possibility of CSTO peacekeeping units’ participation in peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the UN.
