On April 8, Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, met in Tashkent.
The main topic of discussion was furthering the inter-parliamentary cooperation and exchange of experience in lawmaking, particularly in the field of security.
Sergei Pospelov stressed the importance of cooperation within the Eurasia group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which gives opportunities for strengthening ties between the parliaments of the CSTO Member States. He proposed to review the lawmaking practices of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA).
The matters of strengthening international cooperation and preserving historical memory were also discussed at the meeting.
As you may recall, the IPU's geopolitical group "Eurasia" held a meeting as a part of he 150th IPU Assembly. The parliamentarians adopted a Statement dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory.
