On April 8, Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) addressed the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Sergei Pospelov proposed the Assembly to review the CSTO PA initiative on exchange of the best examples of legislative practices, particularly in such fields as countering terrorism, corruption, cross-border crime, man-made disaster response and security of electoral processes.
According to the CSTO PA Executive Secretary, such initiatives can become an effective mechanism for harmonizing the positions of the countries and overcoming cross-national problems.
"We attach special importance to uniting the efforts of parliamentarians in neutralizing external challenges and threats for the implementation of sustainable development goals at the level of regions. In this regard, we note the historical success of the Central Asian states, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, in the peaceful political and diplomatic settlement of border issues, as well as in striving to create a belt of good-neighborliness and trust," Sergei Pospelov pointed out.
As you may recall, from April 5 to 9, Tashkent has become the capital of international parliamentarism. The anniversary 150th IPU Asssembly has gathered more than 2000 delegates from around the world.
