CSTO Secretary General and Secretary of the Armenian Security Council discussed further CSTO measures in the current situation

Stanislav Zas, head of the CSTO Mission, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, met on September 21 in Yerevan.

The press service of the Collective Security Treaty Organization reports that the parties discussed the situation in the region and possible further measures to be taken by the CSTO in the current situation.

The CSTO mission arrived in Armenia in accordance with the decision of an extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council of September 13, 2022. The mission includes representatives of the CSTO Member States employed at the Organization’s working bodies.

The mission is tasked to assess the current situation, prepare a detailed report to the heads of the CSTO Member States on the situation in the region and develop proposals to de-escalate tensions in certain areas at the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In the course of its work, the mission plans to study and monitor the current situation in the border areas and hold meetings with senior political and military leaders of the Republic of Armenia.
