CSTO States are set to establish a biosecurity coordination council
The secretaries of security councils of the CSTO Member States have decided to establish a Coordination Council of the authorized bodies of the CSTO Member States on biological security, the press service of the Russian Security Council Office has reported.
“The Coordinating Council to be established will analyse the situation related to ensuring biological security in the CSTO Member States, organize experience sharing and prepare recommendations on formation and development of coordinated activities in this sphere,” the statement reads. It also confirms the readiness to assist the Republic of Tajikistan in case of aggravations on the border with Afghanistan.
Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, took part in the meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of CSTO States.
The CSTO adopted a joint statement by its foreign ministers on their commitment to the principles of the UN Charter.
