On November 20, Minsk is hosting the International Military and Scientific Conference “Applied Aspects of Scientific Activity in the Field of Defence and Security of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States”.
In his welcoming address to the conference participants, Viktor Khrenin, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, noted that cooperation of the CSTO Member States contributes to maintaining peace on the Eurasian continent.
“CSTO history clearly shows that even nowadays the united efforts of the Member States allow them to efficiently carry out the mission to maintain peace and security in the Eurasian space, as well as to reflect internal and external challenges and threats to collective security. At present, elements of the U.S. strategic missile defence system are deployed in close proximity to the borders of the CSTO Member States; additional troop deployments are taking place; NATO's external pressure on Belarus is consistently growing, implementing the aggressive aspirations of the collective West,” stated Viktor Khrenin.
The Minister also emphasized that the current military and political situation requires an impartial and comprehensive assessment of the Collective Forces, as well as analysis and systematization of existing problems in the field of defense and security of the CSTO Member States.
The conference will discuss ensuring the security of the CSTO Member States, development of operational (combat) support types in the interests of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces), technical equipment, technical and logistic support for the CSTO СRRF.
