Igor Sergeyenko and Sergei Pospelov Discuss the Development of Interparliamentary Cooperation

 

Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, and Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, held a bilateral working meeting in Minsk on October 7. 

The parties discussed key issues of interparliamentary cooperation and the Assembly's role in ensuring collective security, focusing mainly on model lawmaking and the experience of harmonizing national legislation of CSTO member states.

They stressed the importance of continuous parliamentary monitoring of the military and political situation, which helps promptly identify any factors that undermine the security of member states, both within and beyond the CSTO's area of responsibility.

The parties paid particular attention to expanding constructive expert and analytical cooperation, noting that this is particularly relevant ahead of Belarus's CSTO chairmanship in 2028.

Concluding the talks, both sides expressed confidence in the further development of interparliamentary dialogue.
