Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed the new Constitution of Kazakhstan
On March 17, a solemn event dedicated to the adoption of the new Constitution was held in Astana. The ceremony was attended by Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the new Constitution, which will come into force on July 1, as well as the Decree "On Measures to Implement the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan Adopted on March 15, 2026."
According to the results of the referendum, 87.15% of citizens voted in favor of the new text of the main law. In the near future, five new constitutional laws will be submitted to the Parliament for consideration, and eight more articles and more than 60 articles in the fundamental codes will need to be edited. As a reminder, a group of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly participated in monitoring the referendum.
