The conflict on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan should be resolved peacefully
The conflict on the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan should be stopped and the situation should be defused peacefully, Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said on Thursday.
“The CSTO believes that this conflict should be stopped. It should be resolved peacefully. All necessary measures are being taken to settle this conflict,” Interfax news agency quoted the CSTO Secretary General as saying.
According to CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zaynetdinov, “The CSTO is closely monitoring and studying the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border.”
“The CSTO Secretary General, who was in Dushanbe, discussed the situation with the secretaries of the security councils of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Nasrullo Mahmudzoda and Keneshbek Duyshebaev,” Mr Zaynetdinov noted.
According to Kabar news agency, Kamchybek Tashiyev, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for National Security, met with his Tajik counterpart Saimumin Yatimov. The situation is being addressed.
