Koshanov: We Need to Harmonize the CSTO Legislation on Cybersecurity
On May 19, a visiting session of the CSTO PA Council is taking place in Bishkek. Kazakhstan's delegation, headed by Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis, is taking part in the event.
Yerlan Koshanov emphasized that the CSTO plays a key role in ensuring security and stability in the region.
The Kazakh speaker also stressed the importance of harmonizing legislation of the CSTO Member States in the field of cybersecurity and data protection. According to him, due to modern challenges associated with the development of digital technologies and the growth of cyber threats, the states need to put in place common legal approaches and effective mechanisms to counter cyberspace crimes.
Moreover, Yerlan Koshanov underlined that "The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly can contribute to the creation of a common legal space for combating synthetic drugs.”
"Kazakhstan's deputies are ready to actively engage in this work, especially since we already have draft laws regarding these issues. On the instructions of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, the punishment for drug offenses has been significantly increased at the legislative level. By the end of the current session of the Parliament, we plan to introduce more severe legal punishment for cyber fraud as well," Yerlan Koshanov announced.
Concluding his speech, Yerlan Koshanov stressed that Kazakhstan intends to continue actively participating in the work of the CSTO.
