Lieutenant General of Police Marat Kozhaev has been appointed Chairman of the Kurultai Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Marat Kozhaev has spent more than 40 years in law enforcement, working his way up from a regular police officer to senior positions in both the executive and legislative branches of government.
He graduated from Karaganda Higher School of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs (1989) and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001).
From 2012, he headed the Investigative Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From April 2019 to October 2024, Marat Kozhaev held the post of first deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In October 2024, he began active legislative work as a Senator in the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
For his outstanding service and contribution to maintaining law and order, Marat Kozhaev has received high state honours, including the Order of Valor, II degree (2013), and the Order of Glory, II degree (2020).
