Mikhail Mishustin: Eurasian Economic Union has proven its effectiveness
Enlarged Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting discussed topical issues of deepening integration within the EAEU, including the formation of a common gas market, financing of industrial cooperation, development of integration transport projects and regulation of the alcohol market. This is reported by the official website of the Government of the Russian Federation.
Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, noted in his speech at the meeting, “The collective West increases sanctions pressure on Russia and Belarus, despite the fact that the initiators themselves have already felt the negative impact this policy.”
The international economic and trade system is being undermined, the usual ties and ways of life are being disrupted. However, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation stressed, “the Eurasian Economic Union has proven its effectiveness. This is evidenced by the dynamics of key indicators. In the first quarter of this year, the volume of gross domestic product of the EAEU has increased by more than 3.5%.
In the first half of the year there was an increase in agricultural output. The production of industrial goods grew by almost 2%. And, importantly, during this period the unemployment rate in our union decreased by one third (34%).” Mikhail Mishustin noted an active transition to the national currencies in the mutual payments. “This figure has already reached 75%.” He also urged his colleagues to introduce their own international financial mechanisms as soon as possible. “In the current environment, the main thing is to maintain the momentum and minimize the impact of sanctions on the five states, to ensure the well-being of our citizens,” said Mikhail Mishustin.
As you may recall, all the states represented in the EAEU – the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation – are members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Participants of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting included Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chairman of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, and Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
Honorary guests of the meeting included Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, made a video address.
