As you may recall, on January 5 Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said that he had requested the assistance of the CSTO leadership in overcoming the terrorist threat. This was reported by TASS.
“Today I have appealed to the CSTO heads of state [with a request] to help Kazakhstan overcome this terrorist threat. In fact, this is no longer a threat, but an undermining of the integrity of the state and, most importantly, an attack on our citizens who are asking me as head of state to help them urgently,” he said during a meeting broadcast by the Khabar-24 television channel.
“I think that the people of Kazakhstan will support this decision. Together we will win,” said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also said that he viewed the current events in the country as an act of external aggression. He promised to do everything to protect the citizens’ interests.
