CSTO PA Observers Met With the Leadership of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defence
On August 22, as part of the international observer mission monitoring the elections for Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a group of observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly met with senior officials from the country’s Ministry of Defence in Astana.
The CSTO PA delegation was headed by Russian representative, Andrei Kartapolov. Shaikh-Hasan Zhazykbaev, deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Armaments and Military Equipment, was representing the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defence.
Ensuring the electoral rights of military personnel and their families, both within the Republic and abroad, was the key item on the agenda.
Shaikh-Hasan Zhazykbaev assured the observed mission that the Ministry of Defence has taken all necessary measures to ensure that Armed Forces personnel can freely exercise their constitutional right to vote.
He specified that 25 polling stations have been set up in military units and facilities of the Ministry of Defence for servicemen and cadets studying at military educational institutions.
For his part, Andrei Kartapolov, head of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly observer mission, thanked the Kazakhstani side for its willingness to engage in dialogue. He praised the consistently high level of constructive cooperation between the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly observer mission and the government agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
