New Armenian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and CSTO PA Executive Secretary Met in Moscow
On October 4, the first meeting between Gurgen Arsenyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation, and Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, took place in Moscow.
The Armenian Ambassador to Russia stated he will work on further development of relations between Yerevan and Moscow.
“As of today, Armenia has suspended its participation in the CSTO, but all decisions are still made on the basis of consensus. It means that Armenia does not object to the adoption of decisions made by other members of the Organization. We are confident that further cooperation will strengthen mutual understanding and security in the region,” Sergei Pospelov emphasized.
As you may recall, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO Member States, Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, noted that Armenia is a full member of the Organization, preserving all obligations to it.
For reference. On August 15, it was reported that Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of Armenia, appointed Gurgen Arsenyan as Ambassador to Russia. On September 11, Mikhail Galuzin, deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, received copies of Mr. Arsenyan's credentials.
