Oleg Belokonev, Chairman of the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, stressed that the Collective Security Treaty Organization prioritized the expansion of ties with global international players. He said this during the session of the Coordination Meeting of Chairpersons of Committees on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council in Minsk on September 5.
Mr Belokonev said that Sergei Aleinik, Belarusian Foreign Minister and Chairman of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers, had sent proposals to launch a strategic dialogue between the CSTO and China.
According to him, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Belarus also considers other options for the development of dialogue between the CSTO and China, particularly through holding consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and China.
The parliamentarian also recalled that a high-level international conference Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World is due to take place this autumn.
