CSTO PA Experience Discussed at the 69th Annual Meeting of the Russian Association of International Law

On June 29, the 69th Annual Meeting of the Russian Association of International Law (RAIL) opened at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation. 

The theme of the meeting was set as "Observance and Development of General International Law Based on the UN Charter—An Imperative of the 21st Century."

Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, noted in his speech that the harmonization of legislation within the CSTO "directly influences the implementation of the norms and principles of international law, at the heart of which lies the UN Charter."

"The observance and development of general international law based on the UN Charter continues to be an imperative for all Member States of the Organization. When its foundations are being undermined, erased, degraded and dismantled, it is a sign of a collective nihilism in international law, which certainly does not come from us," Sergei Pospelov pointed out.

Leading scholars, practitioners and representatives of government agencies are participating in the meeting. The plenary session and round tables are focused on analyzing the current specifics of international law and its role in addressing global challenges.
