CSTO PA to Standardize the Electronic Warfare Regulations for the Collective Forces

CSTO PA to Standardize the Electronic Warfare Regulations for the Collective Forces
On March 26, at the meeting of the CSTO PA Council’s Expert Advisory Board, draft Recommendations on improving the legislation of the CSTO Member States on the use of electronic warfare forces and assets by contingents of one CSTO Member State—that are part of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces)—on the territory of another.
The Explanatory Note to the draft Recommendations explains that the adoption "will create conditions for building effective organizational and legal mechanisms for further development of the system that ensures national and regional security of the CSTO Member States. The adoption and implementation of the proposed draft Recommendations are meant to establish coordinated policy on radio control and the use of electronic warfare forces and assets."
This document has proven necessary due to the rapid advancement of technology and the significantly increased role of electronic warfare (EW) systems in modern armed conflicts. Experts emphasized that the lack of a unified legal framework could have previously led to legal and technical clashes during the joint deployment of the coalition forces. Harmonization of legislation will allow the Member States' contingents to deploy the EW systems promptly and without bureaucratic delays, to protect their own infrastructure, jam the communications of a potential adversary and counter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Following a detailed discussion, the draft Recommendations were approved by the Board.
