CSTO Parliamentarians Exchanged Information on Military and Political Situation in the Collective Security Regions
The Russian State Duma hosted the 5th meeting of Chairmen of the Committees and Commissions on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States.
The key item on the agenda was information exchange on the military and political situation in the CSTO area of responsibility.
Representatives of parliamentary delegations from the Organization's Member States delivered reports on the situation in their respective countries.
Republic of Belarus. Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, elaborated on the situation on the western borders of the CSTO. He stressed that only joint efforts can help overcome modern challenges.
Republic of Kazakhstan. Viktor Rogalev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reported on the current status of the parliamentary reform in Kazakhstan.
Kyrgyz Republic. Eldar Sulaimanov, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence, Security, and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, reported on security issues in the Central Asian region. He noted that Kyrgyzstan "is reasonably proud of its active position within the CSTO and the successful implementation of the priorities of its chairmanship of the Organization in 2025."
Russian Federation. Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control, shared his experience in countering foreign interference in Russia's internal affairs. Andrei Kartapolov, Chairman of the Committee on Defence of the State Duma of Russian Federation, presented the results of the interfactional working group on biological security issues in the Russian Federation. Anatoly Vyborny, deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control, reported on the implementation of the CSTO PA Action Plan for 2026–2030.
Republic of Tajikistan. The Tajikistan delegation was represented by both houses of Parliament. Nasrullo Mahmudzoda, Chairman of the Committee on Law and Order, Defence and Security of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli, and Qabiljan Khushvakhtzade, Chairman of the Specialized Committee of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli, presented their reports.
Following the exchange of information, the parliamentarians stressed the need to further consolidate efforts to neutralize threats and maintain stability in the regions. The meeting reaffirmed the role of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly as an important platform for strategic dialogue.
