The 5th Meeting of the Chairmen of the Committees on International Affairs, Defence and Security Started in Moscow
On February 13, the 5th Meeting of the Chairmen of Committees on International Relations, Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States is being held in Moscow.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the priorities of Russia's chairmanship of the CSTO in 2026. The focus is on furthering dialogue with third countries and strengthening peace.
Parliamentarians from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan exchanged information on the military and political situation in the region.
Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Russian Federation emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in preventing conflicts in the Eurasian space.
"In the face of growing external pressure, the unity of our countriesand the harmonization of legislation are becoming the guarantee of sovereignty of each CSTO Member State," Leonid Kalashnikov underlined.
The meeting participants stressed the importance of using the resources of parliamentary diplomacy to protect common interests on the international arena and counter external attempts to destabilize the region.
