The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Wishes a Happy New Year!

The year 2023 was an eventful and fruitful one. The year of the presidency of the Republic of Belarus in the CSTO contributed to the strengthening of the collective security system in the region.

Following the results of the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Minsk on November 23, 2023, it was decided to transfer the CSTO presidency from Belarus to Kazakhstan from January 1, 2024.

Special attention was paid to the development of the military component of the Organization in the outgoing year. Delegates of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly participated in monitoring military exercises in the Republic of Belarus.

In addition, the CSTO achieved significant results in international cooperation. CSTO parliamentarians participated in election observation in Kazakhstan and Serbia. Successful cooperation with the UN, SCO, OSCE PA and other international organizations continues. 

During 2023, all CSTO Member States actively contributed to strengthening the CSTO’s key mission as a regional defence structure responsible for maintaining peace and stability in the vast Eurasian space. Crucial regulations were finalized and signed during this period.

In his New Year greetings, Vyacheslav Volodin, CSTO PA Chairman and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, wished all the Member States of the Organization prosperity and every possible victory. 

“Colleagues, I congratulate everyone on the coming New Year, I wish happiness, health to our citizens, first of all, good luck to our policymakers in upholding the interests of their constituents, and, of course, victories for all of us in addressing the issues facing our states,” Vyacheslav Volodin said at the CSTO PA Council on December 19 in Moscow.
