Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Paid Tribute to National Heroes in St. Petersburg
On May 7, Viktor Rogalev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the CSTO PA, and Askhat Mukashev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of Kazakhstan to the IPA CIS, laid flowers at monuments to distinguished compatriots in St. Petersburg.
The delegation visited the garden square where a monument stands to the legendary female sniper Aliya Moldagulova, Hero of the Soviet Union. The participants honored the hero’s memory with a minute of silence.
"The heroism of the young Aliya, who gave her life for the peaceful skies, is an immortal symbol of courage. For the CSTO Member States, preserving the truth about our shared history and the heroes of the Great Patriotic War is not only a tribute; it is the unshakable foundation of our brotherhood," said Viktor Rogalev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the CSTO PA.
The delegates also laid flowers at the monument to Zhambyl Zhabayev, the great Kazakh akyn, located on the street bearing his name. During the Siege, his heartfelt poem "Leningraders, my children" ("Leningradtsy, deti moi") became a true anthem of resilience and a source of spiritual support for the residents of the besieged city.
During those years of the gravest trials, Zhambyl's words warmed the freezing hearts of the people of Leningrad, giving them faith and strength. His work became an invisible yet indestructible shield over the city on the Neva. Today, as we pay tribute to the great akyn, we are once again reiterate that spiritual unity, heartfelt mutual support and cultural ties are the values that historically unite our peoples and make our bond unbreakable," Askhat Mukashev pointed out.
As you may recall, today Kazakhstan celebrates Defender of the Fatherland Day. The Ministry of Defence has organized a large-scale program: military parades, festive ceremonies, exhibitions of military equipment and live meetings with veterans across the country.
