Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and President of the Russian Federation, congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on his election as President of the Republic of Belarus.

According to soyuz.by, an info-analytics portal of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, Chairman of the Central Election Commission on Elections and Republican Referenda of the Republic of Belarus has released the preliminary results of the presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus, according to which over 80% of the citizens of the Republic of Belarus supported the incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko at the presidential elections that took place the day before. According to the preliminary data of the CEC, 5,798,908 people, or 84.23 per cent of registered voters, took part in the election.
