CSTO representatives will learn about the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon

Representatives of the CSTO Secretariat and Joint Staff will learn about the UN peacekeeping mission UNIFIL in Lebanon, TASS reports quoting the CSTO press service.
“The agreement was reached following talks between Stanislav Zas, CSTO Secretary General, and Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations,” TASS reports.
The CSTO is currently actively integrating the organization’s peacekeeping potential into the UN activities. “The main purpose of the visit is to learn about the activities of the UN mission UNIFIL, to study the peculiarities of the execution of peacekeeping tasks by multinational peacekeeping contingents,” TASS notes.
During the visit, working meetings were held with Jack Christofides, UN Acting Head of Mission, and Brigadier General Hubert Gomart, Chief of Staff of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon. The parties exchanged views on possible areas of cooperation in peacekeeping.
As you may recall, the CSTO PA plenary session on November 29, 2021 approved the CSTO model law On Peacekeeping Activities and Peacekeeping Forces.
