Parliamentarians call on PACE, OSCE PA and the European Parliament to take concrete steps to solve the migration crisis
The 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia adopted a Statement in which deputies of the two countries’ parliaments express their concern about the situation on the border of the Republic of Belarus with Poland and Lithuania.
The statement quoted by the press service of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation reads, “The current situation is a consequence of the policy of aggressive interference in the affairs of developing countries by the United States of America and the European Union. The majority of refugees come from countries that were subjected to international expansion with the introduction of NATO military contingent, which led to the destruction of peaceful life and foundations of the state system in these countries.”
“By failing to constructively cooperate with the Republic of Belarus in the settlement of the migration crisis, the European Union avoids solving the problem and uses the policy of double standards towards human rights protection, application of international law and principles of humanism,” reads the Statement.
According to the press service, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia are convinced that “manifestations of irresponsible state policy of Western countries, artificial aggravation of the situation and escalation of the migration crisis should be assessed adequately and become a subject of consideration of relevant competent international institutions and organizations.”
“We call on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the European Parliament and other structures of the European Union to give an objective public assessment of these radical actions and to take concrete steps to resolve the crisis,” the statement reads.
