President of the Russian Federation to visit the active phase of Vostok 2022 strategic exercise
Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, will visit the strategic command post exercise Vostok 2022 during his trip to the Far East.
This was reported by TASS, citing the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
“On September 6, he (Putin – TASS’s note) will work in Vladivostok itself. The Vostok 2022 strategic command-and-staff exercise of the armed forces begins there. The President will visit the active phase of this strategic exercise on September 6,” TASS quotes Dmitry Peskov, press secretary to the President of the Russian Federation, as saying.
As you may recall, as part of the Vostok 2022 exercise on September 2, the crews of anti-submarine aircraft Ilyushin Il-38 and Ilyushin Il-38N of the Pacific Fleet practiced setting up mine obstacles in the Sea of Japan. Having received the task of organizing anti-submarine warfare, the pilots flew to the area to search for simulated enemy submarines from alternate airfields and conducted maritime reconnaissance. Then the crews of Ilyushin Il-38 and Ilyushin Il-38N aircraft searched for submarine targets using radar and hydroacoustic means of search.
The crews of anti-submarine aircraft of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet put up mine barriers of various types from the air in the designated area along the routes of possible deployment of the simulated enemy submarines.
“A coalition-based exercise helps to develop a common understanding of the organization of troop training, their management and interaction at the operational and tactical levels and strengthen friendship and combat camaraderie between our servicemen,” Colonel General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Russian deputy Minister of Defence, said earlier.
The strategic command-and-staff exercise Vostok 2022 is being conducted from September 1 to 7 under the command of Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, with practical training of defensive and offensive operations at seven training grounds of the Eastern Military District: Burduny, Goryachiye Klyuchi, Knyaze-Volkonsky, Lagunnoye, Sergeevsky, Telemba and Uspenovsky, as well as in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan and their coastal areas.
During the exercise, the troops (forces) of the Eastern Military District, part of the Airbourne Forces and long-range and military transport aviation forces will practice joint actions with military contingents and observers from the CSTO, SCO and other partner states, including Algeria, Azerbaijan, China, India, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nicaragua and Syria.
In total, more than 50,000 servicemen, more than 5,000 pieces of armaments and military equipment, including 140 aircraft, 60 warships, boats and support vessels, will be involved in the Vostok 2022 exercise.
