In a telephone conversation, Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, warmly congratulated Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, on his birthday, sending him his best wishes and noting the great positive changes that have taken place in the republic.
According to NIAT Khovar, the heads of state discussed the particulars of interstate strategic partnership relations and the prospects for their further development. A special emphasis was placed on the issues of further strengthening of security cooperation between the two states, in particular, material and technical reinforcement of the Tajik-Afghan border, taking into account the recent developments in Afghanistan. The parties agreed to continue regular contacts on Afghanistan issues and exchanged views on other relevant aspects of regional cooperation and individual issues on the regional agenda.
