Motorized riflemen of the 201st base in Tajikistan mountains practiced eliminating simulated saboteurs
At a training ground Lyaur in the mountains of Tajikistan, servicemen of the 201st Russian base practiced eliminating a simulated group of saboteurs from an illegal paramilitary unit, Izvestiya reports with reference to the press service of the Central Military District.
“The motorized riflemen conducted a swift raid on the simulated enemy sabotage group and destroyed it with APC-82A and small arms,” Izvestiya quotes the Central Military District report.
The exercise utilized modern observation capabilities, for example, a small-sized Sobolyatnik radar that simultaneously monitors up to two dozen different objects and determines their coordinates to within a few metres and a Fara-VR complex from the family of portable continuous-wave radar stations designed for reconnaissance of moving ground targets (people and vehicles), as well as for aiming mounted automatic arms.
Earlier, on September 30, elimination of a simulated paramilitary group invading the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan was practiced.
Crews of modernized BTR-82 armoured personnel carriers used 30-millimetre automatic cannons to destroy a group of simulated fighters.
On September 11 the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that Russia donated to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan 12 modernized armoured reconnaissance and patrol vehicles BRDM-2M with sets of spare parts, small arms, close combat equipment and radiation, chemical and biological protection equipment.
As you may recall, the 201st Russian military base stationed in two cities on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan is a component of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s Collective Rapid Response Force.
