In Moscow, Putin and Pashinian discuss development of Russian-Armenian strategic partnership and alliance, including in the CSTO
“Your visit is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. I know you have a very busy schedule; you have meetings with the heads of the government, the Federal Assembly, then a visit to Nizhny Novgorod,” said Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, at the beginning of the meeting with Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
Vladimir Putin said that a number of documents are planned to be signed during the visit in addition to “a fairly impressive base of 200 documents that have been signed to support our legal relations in the previous years, and this facilitates work in almost all areas.”
Noting the good dynamics of trade turnover growth, the President of the Russian Federation said, “Security issues, including those related to Karabakh, will also be at the centre of our attention. There are still many problems, I agree with you. We are in constant contact with you: we talk on the phone, I do not know, if not every week, then every ten days for sure, and have regular meetings despite the pandemic.”
According to news.am, the meeting also addressed cooperation in international organizations, such as the CSTO, CIS and EAEU.
According to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, during his two-day visit to Russia, Nikol Pashinyan is accompanied by Mher Grigoryan, deputy Prime Minister; Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia; Ararat Mirzoyan, Foreign Minister; Vahram Dumanyan, Minister of Education, Science, Sports and Culture, and other officials.
On April 20, Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, is scheduled to meet with Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; and Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
As you may recall, the last time Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin met in person was on October 12, 2021 in Moscow and on November 26, 2021 during a trilateral meeting in Sochi.
