Russia ratified the Protocol on Introduction of Amendments to the Agreement on Peacekeeping Activities of the CSTO
According to kremlin.ru, on April 16, 2022, Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, signed the Federal Law On Ratification of the Protocol on Introduction of Amendments to the Agreement on Peacekeeping Activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization of October 6, 2007.
The Federal Law was adopted by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on April 5, 2022 and approved by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on April 13, 2022.
The Law ratifies the Protocol on Introduction of Amendments to the Agreement on Peacekeeping Activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization of October 6, 2007 signed in Dushanbe on September 16, 2021.
As you may recall, the Protocol introduces the concept of a “coordinating state” and stipulates that a collective peacekeeping force of the Collective Security Treaty Organization shall be established under the auspices of such a state for use in a United Nations peacekeeping operation.
The Protocol is subject to ratification under Article 15, § 1 (d), of the Federal Law On International Treaties of the Russian Federation.
