Putin and Tokayev Reaffirmed Their Commitment to Building a Strategic Partnership

On March 20, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, in a telephone conversation reaffirmed their stance on further developing Russian-Kazakh relations as a strategic partnership and alliance, the Kremlin press service reported.

"The leaders stated that they are ready to continue developing Russian-Kazakh comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance to the fullest extent," the statement reads.

As you may recall, Russia and Kazakhstan are Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). On March 15, CSTO parliamentarians observed the voting process at the constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan.
