Putin and Vučić Discuss Results of State Duma Elections and Upcoming Parliamentary Elections in Serbia

At the initiative of the Serbian side, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, held a phone conversation with Aleksandar Vučić, President of the Republic of Serbia.

The Serbian leader congratulated Vladimir Putin on the successful elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

In continuation of the topic, Aleksandar Vučić briefed his Russian counterpart on the preparation progress for the early parliamentary elections in Serbia.  Both sides firmly emphasized that any external interference in the electoral processes of sovereign states is unacceptable.

The majority of the talk focused on the development of the Russian-Serbian strategic partnership. Aleksandar Vučić expressed his gratitude for Russia's all-round support, separately thanking Russia for the assistance in fighting forest fires in Serbia.

The presidents also exchanged views on a number of pressing international issues.

Since 2013, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has been an observer in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. As a CSTO PA international observer, Serbian MP Dušan Bajatović monitored the recent State Duma elections, working at the polling station in Belgrade.
