On December 24, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and Emomali Rahmon, leader of Tajikistan, held bilateral talks in Leningrad Region.
Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow continues to cooperate with Dushanbe in security area on the international arena.
He drew attention to the importance of interregional cooperation between the states.
"Today, as we agreed, we will hold bilateral talks on the whole complex of our relations. Our relations are very constructive, developing at a good pace. Tajikistan is our reliable ally," the Russian leader emphasized.
In addition, he declared his readiness to increase the quota for students from Tajikistan at Russian universities.
Emomali Rahmon, in turn, suggested to discuss regional and global security in detail, as well as the international situation in general. He pointed out that Russia is Tajikistan's main strategic partner.
As you may recall, on Wednesday, December 25, the CIS leaders will hold a traditional informal meeting.
