CSTO PA International Observers Will Monitor Presidential Elections in Belarus
The mission of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will monitor the preparation and holding of presidential elections in the Republic of Belarus, scheduled for January 26, 2025.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, received a letter signed by Natalia Kochanova and Igor Sergeyenko, heads of both chambers of the Belarusian Parliament, inviting the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly observers to take part in monitoring the presidential elections in Belarus.
Victoria Abramchenko, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, will coordinate the monitoring mission of parliamentarians from the CSTO states.
In its conclusions, recommendations and monitoring activities in general, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly closely cooperates with the IPA CIS International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, whose representatives have already begun long-term observation of presidential elections in Belarus. The recommendations on the results of this monitoring from the colleagues of the IPA CIS IIMDD will also be taken into account by the CSTO parliamentarians.
As you may recall, in 2024, the CSTO PA observers monitored the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Belarus, as well as the presidential election in Russia. Their reports on the results of the observation are published on the official website of the Assembly.
